CARP
FISHING IN SLOVENIA
Most of you probably do not know much about Slovenia as a country, let
alone about carp fishing in this small country on the sunny side of
Alps. Pristine looking lakes and rivers in Slovenia are probably one of
the most neglected in this part of the world. Even thought fly anglers
from all over the world discovered many beautiful alpine streams and
rivers years ago, lakes stayed rather unknown until now. Only true
adventurous European carp anglers visited some lakes in Slovenia in the
past and consequently some of them have successfully kept them on there
secret list of beautiful, pressureless waters that are waiting to be
truly uncovered. Lately more and more information are coming out about
the true potential of carp fishing in this country. Pictures of big
carp are now being published even in respected carp fishing magazines
in the UK and anglers have really started wondering whether they should
finally
give this country a try. Especially those with well developed spirit
for adventure and pioneering are turning their heads and look for
information about carp fishing in this part of Europe.
In recent years many things have changed in this part of world that are
making carp fishing in this country even more appealing and
interesting. Since Slovenia is a part of the European Union, there are
no custom or other related issues fwhen travelling to this country. Low
budget Airlines (Easyjet flies from Stansted to Slovenian capital
Ljubljana on daily basis) made this country accessible to all people
regardless of their budget. Laws concerning fishing changed in
last few years making fishing rules and regimes on many venues in
Slovenia much more carp fishing friendly. Fishing with two or three
rods and legal night fishing is not an issue anymore on many lakes.
Waters in Slovenia are 99 % public, meaning they can not compare with
private ones in other countries regarding facilities and other luxury.
Good thing is they are not really pressured and you can always find
a nice swim that will give you a good chance to catch as many fish as
possible.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing holiday session with a
possibility of multiple catches or are just hoping to catch a really
big carp we can assure you will find all these in Slovenia. The
majority of our waters is heavily stocked and getting amongst carp is
never a problem. Fish respond very well to bait and you can always
expect to catch loads of carp to and over 30lb. If you are prepared to
work a little bit harder there is always a good possibility that one of
the bigger carp over 40lb, 50lb or 60lb will end up in your landing
net. As waters are reasonably undiscovered there is always a
possibility of something special coming out (note that quite some carp
over 30 kg – 66 lb mark were caught in Slovenia in the past).
Baits and tactics used in Slovenia are standard and same as
everywhere else in the world. Quality baits and strong, reliable tackle
always win the day. One thing that you have to take into consideration
when choosing baits for waters in Slovenia is, that almost on every
lake
there are big shoals of small and medium sized fish so you will have to
give them enough bait to hold them in your swims.
It is always hard to decide to go fishing on fairly unknown venue in
foreign country, especially if you are travelling with airplane and
have to take weight and other airline restrictions in consideration.
It is much easier if you know somebody with several experiences on that
particular venue and in carp fishing in general who is prepared to help
you
out.
Why not try something different, be for once amongst those lucky
anglers that get a chance to discover something new and escape from
monotony and boredom of pressured venues where you can not even decide
on your own in which swim or part of a lake you are going to fish.
Beautiful country with friendly people, full of undisclosed venues
awaits you! Have a look at all these fantastic pictures of lakes and
carp on our site and we are sure you will find something you will
like.
Contact us and we will always try to help with more information and
pointers as much as we can considering our busy schedule, of course. We
apologize in advance to those that will have to wait a little bit
longer for our reply; we will almost certainly be out there – catching
them!
Tight lines,
